Haagen Daz has been in the news for pledging its support in finding answers to the problem of colony collapse. Here's one place where you can read about it.

This is good news, Dan. The greater the general awareness of all the potential impacts from lost bees, the better.

So the "mysterious dissapearing" is a worldwide problem.. its been on the news here in the Netherlands as well. Some of the bigger hobby beekeepers here lost 150 out of 180 hives, last year.

Yes, it's a world wide problem. If bees had a religion, I'd say we're looking at a "Left Behind" series among honey bees. ;D ;D ;D

Although the topic has some humor to it (On no! No more ice cream!) it's great that Haagen Daz is drawing attention to it. Wonder if Ben & Jerry's, whose reputation is partly built on social causes, will also follow this.

I've often thought that if the commercial production of mead had as much status as wine production, the problems with honey bees, mites, colony collapse, et. al., would have been solved a long time ago.
