I started making mead July 2009 (batch still aging) and since then I have started 5 other batches, all either still fermenting or aging.

Last night, my wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I immediately blurted out, "A 5 gallon pail of honey!" :drunken_smilie:

When I first decided to make mead, it was suppose to just be a distant second from my beer brewing. I didnt think Id get involved as much and I would just make a batch of mead here and there. Guess I'll be stocked with tons of beer AND mead now.....

Guess thats not a bad problem to have :)

Yeah, I initially was planning on making just one or two one gallon batches (before I found this site) and seeing how those tasted. That idea did NOT last very long!

Me too, but my birthday's not 'til October and I don't really want to wait that long. :)

But you sound totally normal to me, Chode--nothing wrong with you that I can see, anyway.

I got a new hydrometer test tube and a bag of empty bottles for Xmas this year... and for my birthday last year I got a case of new dessert-wine bottles... I think 5 gal honey is a perfectly sensible request!

Well my wife has been asking what I would like for Father's Day and for my birthday...only a week apart this year......and I'm seriously considering asking for another case of swing top bottles, another 30+ lbs of honey, and other assorted homebrewing paraphernalia. :D
