Had to call the bottle bomb squad today... (me, myself and I)... only it wasn't my wine... it was canned pea soup a friend gave me for Xmas...

I have two 1-L mason jars of it and one's fine, but the other one started effervescing when I moved it (relocating stuff in basement in preparation for wine relocation), big scary-looking bubbles started coming up from the bottom and the snap lid was bulging out instead of being concave... so me myself and I panicked a little bit and put it in a double cardboard box with a box of empties on top just to make sure there was something between us and it... it was left to settle down for 15 minutes while we finished tidying up and argued about what to do with it... by consensus we wrapped one of those heavy duty reusable shopping bags around it and carefully relocated it to the chest freezer... where it will sit for two hours or so and then I shall open it most carefully over my sink... and then pour the contents down the toilet...

I don't know what kind of friends you have... first, they give you pea soup for Christmas  Then, the soup tries to eat YOU.

You may want to get some coal for them this year... ;D

Yeah, it was pretty ripe by the time I got it to the toilet...

To be fair, we traded preserves for Xmas, I had leftover jams and jellies from the stuff I made for our wedding last November...

I used to can, back when I was a Mom and not a wage slave. When I went back to school in the late 80s my many jars sat in my garage until I geve them away...stupid me!

I never did pea soup, though.
