View Full Version : Super fast or stuck fermentation?

I pitched a batch of peach melomel just six days ago. I got good fermentation right away that was quite vigorous for several days. However, I've seen no bubbles in the airlock for nearly 2 days now. The SG started at 1.1 and measured out today at 1.0. Can it possibly be done fermenting so fast? ???

Trust your SG, if it's down at 1.000 then yes, it was that fast! Congrats on a successful fermentation!

And welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the speedy response, and for the warm welcome :)

I re-suspended the lees by stirring. Should I not have done that?

It shouldn't hurt anything. Sometimes it actually helps clear faster as the little particles stick to the stirred-up big particles. But you'll be wanting to rack it off the lees sometime soon, especially if it's still on the fruit.

I've had ferments go as fast as 24 hours! With my normal pace of fermentation 6 days would be "pretty quick" but not shocking.
