A general knowledge quiz for USA citizens.
Some questions are giveaway, some not-so much.

Honesty first,
I knew only 50% of the answers.

BUT wow was that quiz poorly written and needed some MAJOR spellcheck, AND Jerusalem IS the capital of Israel though internationally it is not recognized as such, but to the Israelis it IS the capital.

I missed the four on Europe counting Tel aviv as European which it is not. The European government just has little relevance to me and I thought Jerusalem had been made official.

My bad on Jerusalem fixing it now.

Sorry for the spelling, I know I should work on improving it.
It's only my 3rd language and hardly need it.

I didn't realize you made it! I thought it was an American who made it and you found it somewhere. Understandable about the spelling if it's your third language, sorry about that!

You had some really great questions though, I had to reach back into the caverns of my brain (and my college level US History class I took in high school) to answer some of those.

I got 27% and I admit, most of them are lucky guesses. I never did well at remembering names and places in History. I've never heard of Saint Augustine so I guessed New York because it was the most Easterly city I knew about. Never learned any names about the Battle of the Bulge, I just figured Eisenhower and Patton were not the answer. Never knew the organization that invaded Afghanistan.

Always figured the language of the States was English or English/Spanish just like Canada's English/French. I guess early 80's Sesame Street lied to me :) (that was before they changed the American Spanish segments to Canadian French segments). So what IS the answer?

And I guess I don't read a lot of international news, the only names I recognized were Berlusconi and Sarkozy.

And yeah, wild guess about the First amendment. I certainly don't know US constitutional amendments better than I know Canadian constitution... which still isn't that great. I'm pretty sure I'd fail the Canadian citizenship test at the moment, but I'd have been OK in high school when I still remembered things.

And I have to look it up on a map when I try to figure out how far away other Gotmeaders are from me. US is a big country with a lot of states.

The US has no official language, a fact that pisses off many US born citizens whose immigrant parents or grandparents made the effort to learn English and assimilate while they perceive the more recent immigrant groups as "less american" because they seem to refuse to learn english and force bilingual services/schools/etc.

I personally don't care if you don't want to learn English when you move to my country, but don't you dare demand that I learn Spanish (or whatever).

shelby twnp.
test itself is total bunk!
if there is no official language of the U.S. than the question itself is misleading.
also,, did the U.S.S.R. ever invade Afghanistan? ok. then i want credit for that question now too.

I got 20% as a non-American.
Most of what CG said goes for me too.

CG, we only have 7 states and territories and we're < 76% the size of the US. It's much easier IMHO (also: one of those territories doesn't count - it only has useless politicians living there)
We have privately owned cattle stations (ranches) larger than the state of Texas.

I need a map anytime somebody speaks geographically of the US.
I'm also continually distressed by the fact that the 'mid-west' is in fact east of the longitudinal centre of the US. Grrr!

I have heard that cattle station claim a number of times and I tend to doubt it. Texas is a big place. There is a story of a Texas Rancher telling someone his ranch was so big it took all day to drive across. The old man the story was directed at replied that he had a car just like that once. I grew up within 80 miles of the geographical center of North America and it always offended me as a kid when those people 1500 miles to the east called themselves midwesterners. The author of the quiz actually did a very good job of writing a quiz directed mainly at people on another continent and country. I would have only a slim chance of correctly answering a geograhy quiz on Austrailia. I once made a concerted effort to keep up with Canadian politics but don't anymore sadly. When I think south I think warmer climate, you think cooler. I guess I am just not flexible.

Yeah ok, you got me there. It's a gross exaggeration we have fun with ;-)
Our largest station dwarfs Texas' largest by about 10 times.
Doing a bit of quick research, Texas is in fact 28 times bigger than our largest station. Our largest is only 8 times larger than Texas' largest.
But that's still f'ing big!

People where I live call themselves Midwestern, I prefer upper plains. This was once the the Wild West so I'm not wanting to move that image east lol

Hey.... are foreigners allowed to own land? With that much land I bet there's a cheap acre I can buy and that way have a way to justify a trip! I bought land in Texas because it was cheap. I haven't been there yet through.. (not even a thousand bucks)

Also. Is like to clarify. That thing about cattle stations bigger than Texas? It's a myth.
However, after some research, our largest station is 1/10 the landmass of Texas. Which is still effing huge!
