Do not try and carbonate anything but water in a soda stream. I own one. I love it, but if there is anything but water in that bottle, you will just make a mess. The sugars and other stuff cause bubbles - like blowing into milk with a straw.

It goes every where. There are youtube videos of it.

There aren't all that many ways to effectively and safely carbonate mead other than bottle priming or using a keg system.

There are a few methods such as this one and this other one, but neither offer a way to regulate the pressure. Not worth it IMO.

Got any friends that have a kegging system? If not, any local homebrew clubs? Always good to know a few of those folks as they might be willing to trade some brew for carbonation service....

Still, a corny keg immersed in ice water and a 5lb bottle of CO2 with the pressure nice and high will get him the results he wants in a few hours.

Yeah but for that he needs to prime the must. I get the impression he has finished mead he wants to carbonate.

The only easy way is with a corny keg setup.

Unless it can take mixing with club soda.

He hasn't provided much more info than he though about carbonating with Sodastream. but if he's stabilized, than yeah Kegs probably the only option. If he has a bottle mead that wasn't stabilized, than he can rebottle it into beer bottles with some priming sugar and give it a shot.

The problem with doing it this way is you have to start out with a dry mead or else add unfermentable sugars to up the FG. I suppose you could try the Champagne method, and back sweeten after bottle conditioning. That's a pain though.
