Sometime in the fall I will be driving from Alaska to Florida. I was hoping to find some mead breweries along the way. I have never seen a tavern, pub, or microbrewery with mead. A neighbor recently dropped off a growler of mead that he made and now I am intrigued. Any assistance would be appreciated.

This will require needing to know what your route will be. There are around 10 meaderies in Texas, if you head down this way and go east.

There are quite a few around, just need to know where your path takes you so we can provide you with more options.

Cheers and welcome to GotMead!

Driving all the way to Orlando. It should be a lot of fun. Thank you all for the help. I didn't know that meadery was the term to look for. A quick check on google maps revealed several. Thanks again.

Why stop in Orlando? Planning to go to meadlenium? It's just a few hours more to broward where me and medsen are, and mannye is a couple of hours more down in miami. Hell, go all the way to the keys if you want (but it's a little too touristy for my taste).

Seriously. Orlando is the tip of the iceberg. South Florida is where it's at. You should just keep on going past Orlando and spend most of your time down here. It's only three hours from Orlando to Miami but you go from "same ol same ol" to subtropical fantasy land.

And Bob, you gotta get out more, we're only about 45 minutes away from each other. Lol. I know it SEEMS like three hours to get here however.

You can do Disney on your way back north if you must.

I know, but tell that to my 6mo old daughter!
Having said that, I do need to run to a homebrew shop and I think there's one miami right?
And don't knock Orlando! There's Disney worl, universal, Disney world, some bars, a bunch of college kids all over the place; it fun.

5000mi!!! That's like 8000km!
I've done that before, but only in a round trip. That's a hell of a long one way road trip.
And with a 6 month old? It will take weeks! Man I wish I could call shotgun!

Miles of fun.

Orlando is for Disney. We have two young children who have never been there. Since the trip is a long way off, there is plenty of time to plan for a few cool stops.

While doing some research I found that Alaska has an award winning meadery. It's an eight hour drive, but it should be a fun adventure. Of course that will have to wait until late spring.
