Hello all.

Just came across this site and jumped in. I'm a hobby beekeeper with lots of extra honey so what better to do with it than make mead! I plan on lurking around the forums picking up ideas and recipes until I make my first batch and then I will be screaming "HELP!" Looking forward to experimenting and playing mad scientist. I plan on starting to buy supplies and equipment over the the next few weeks so any brand or style recommendations would be welcome. Many thanks!

Welcome to the addiction.

Please don't start a batch and then scream for help once you have started. There are several things that you can do to help your batch immensely. Figure out what you want to make. Put it together and post it first. Once you get the green light them make it. So many people get on here and mess things up and then scream for help. Were here to help you so lean on us when your close to starting.
Craigslist is a great place to get carboys and fermentation buckets

...and try the JAOM or basic traditional BOMM one gallon recipes for your first batch. It is kind of a ritual that every mazer starts with one of the two. Guaranteed to give you a good first mead experience if you follow the directions exactly!
