So I decided that I wanted to take a stab at Bray's Berry Death melomel and followed it to the letter. Everything was going well until I pulled the fruit. At that point, some of the berries escaped as the nylon bag had become untied. Over the course of the next few days, I would strain out the berries as I degassed, but there would be a few more waiting form the the next day. I got busy over the weekend and did not get a chance to tend to the melomel and this morning I looked and now I have little pieces of moldy fruit floating around. It looks like it is only on the floating pieces and at the last reading the ABV was over 17%. Is this a lost cause or can I rack the mead out from under it?

Thanks in advance,
-J-

Just rack away from the fruit and it should be fine.
