So I know that many of you are musicians, and I know what your favorite movies are, but I have often wondered what sort of people take up Mead as a hobby. My question is therefore: what do you do?

I am an Electrical Engineer (now unfortunately sucked into management).

I presume your asking, "How do we support ourselves?"

I make a living as a Motion Picture Studio - Grip, I.A.T.S.E. local union #80. I've been in the employ of 20th Century Fox, for the nearly 12 years.

I'm a Perfect Bind Operator, Manage a crew of 6 to 10 people, I set up, run & repair a massive binding machine for the worlds largest printer / bindery company. Our line can manage 40,000 books on a good 8 hour shift. You've probably held one of the books I've made. We've done a number of text books, including aviation engineering and mechanics. Comic books - Dilbert, Calvin & Hobbes, Farside, etc. Time Life books, Sunset, children's books, Black & Decker How To books, Classic Car, Antique, Gardening. Basically everything except your standard paperback novels, our line only does large format books. The hard cover line next to mine did The Daily Show's "Democracy Inaction".

Wasn't that because they were following procedures from a manual that was bound out of order by the world's largest bindry operator? ;)

NASA's Mars Climate Orbiter, lost in space because engineers forgot to make a conversion from English units to metric.

That was you, wasn't it?

No, my calcs were good on that one. They didn't listen that day.

I'm on the secondary launch team. If the boosters don't fire, I head out to the Pad with a Bic lighter and take care of business.
