Oh I head about that on the news. I may only be 19 but I have seen most Get Smart episodes, and loved them. The Goons are dead, ‘Max’ is dead, Bill Hicks is dead, and I can’t really think of to many good living comics. Sad really.

I asked you not to tell me that. Now I'm going to be actively waiting for the TV Series to hit DVD... You think you've got me, but I have you surrounded by the entire mounted 17th Bengal Lancers.

And let's not forget Inspector Gadget and Tennessee Tuxedo. ;D

Add Red Skelton to the list of those comedians that have passed on...

There used to be an art to comedy, one that did not require lewdity or vulgarity, profanity or shock...

Don Adams was one of those that had mastered that art...

Something I remember from Harpo Marx's biography -- the Marx brothers used to call risque or obscene jokes "a cheap laugh," meaning it takes no effort and most people would laugh at the joke. Good comedy took work, and that's what they worked at.

Boy, I completely missed Red Skelton's passing. I used to be glued to the TV for his show every week and when it was over I was already looking forward to the following week's show.

Cheers,

Oskaar

I believe some people laugh at some of the crude things that are called comedy, not because they are funny, but as a defense mechanism to provide an outlet for the discomfort. Say something that makes the listener uncomfortable and you get a cheap laugh...
