Hi gang!

I'm in the process of lining up people to interview for the upcoming radio show GotMead - Live! We will be doing interviews with industry movers and shakers, people of interest, and who knows what else. We'll be figuring it out as we go. I am tickled to have J.D. Webb (a patron here) producing (this was his idea) the show, and will be co-hosting the show with AJ, our own ChevetteGirl here on GotMead. We're going to have *way* too much fun.

We'll also have regular segments like 'Ask Oskaar'. Our very own Oskaar, meadmaker extrodinaire, will be answering the burning questions about recipes, mead making problems and techniques. This part will usually be pre-recorded, due to Oskaar's real life work schedule (and time zone differences), but you can send your questions to gotmeadlive@gotmead.com (be sure to tell us your name!) and we'll handle several questions per show. And if I can manage to bring him on live, you will be the first to know!

Meanwhile, I want to poll the greatest mead community on the planet (you guys) and see what else you'd like to see.

AJ, JD, Oskaar and I have come up with industry interviews, Ask Oskaar, reviews of products and equipment, tastings and palate calibration, mead reviews, panel discussions and a few other things.

What do you think we should also consider? And are there particular people you'd like to hear from? (Yes, I've already added Ken Schramm to the list) No promises on what all will get in, we've got set time frames, but I'm curious what you all think and want to see what hive mind can create.

Wow

This sounds great. Will it be internet radio?

The science and protocol/techniques are easy enough to learn by reading, (that's not to say it isn't needed as a part of your program). But it's not as easy to read how to finish putting things together to "craft" a finished product. What I mean is this. You can read cookinig books, have recipies on hand but that still isn't what a chief does to create great meals. It's a knack thing! I don't have anyone to personally bounce things off of so it's frustrating plowing through by trial and error. It would be great to ease drop in on some of that kind of thing. I hope I'm making sense here. I'm not feeling like I'm finding the right words to express what I'm hoping to learn from "the big dogs" :)

I think I see where you're going, Squatchy. And yeah, we'll be having discussions of crafting, and other related things. This will evolve as it goes, and I'm open to whatever the mead-loving public wants to hear about.

It will be internet radio. JD had me buy the software and access he needs to put it all together, and there will be portions of the show that are live, with the ability for people to call in with questions and comments, as well as pre-recorded parts, for when the person we are talking to can't make the live show. The plan to also provide downloadable recordings, and get it on other venues such as Itunes (though I have to look into that yet, not sure what I all I have to do).

Thanks for your input, and keep it coming!

You might want to talk to some beekeepers, anyone from part time sideliners who go after the varietal honey to the big fellas buying up all the clover honey about the state of our bees in this country and concerns about imported honey and fake honey, several universities are deeply involved in bee health and most of them are good talkers! I would do a regular "beginners lounge" that tackles the basics and gives specific instruction on proper use of equipment and ingredients. I'm sure everyone will enjoy detailed instructions on things like how to properly read a hydrometer for example. How many of us are pulling out the thermometer first and doing the proper calculations to adjust for must temps???? Mmmmmmm??????

Here's your first month.

What to do before you even mix water and honey.

The proper way to read a hydrometer.

How to correctly sulfite when racking and before bottling. Down to the nitty gritty details.

Buckets. The proper way to maintain a plastic fermenting bucket and a plastic bottling bucket. How to wash without scratching.

Proper carboy maintenance (fifth week bonus topic...lol)

Figure 5 to 7 minutes is enough to cover these in depth. Or more since you're not on air and don't need to worry about time

Sent from my TARDIS at the restaurant at the end of the universe while eating Phil.
