Thread: P.E.T. Bottles

    Default P.E.T. Bottles

Has anyone yet to bottle beer, braggot or mead in PET bottles?

The only thing negative I've read is that they can allow gas to escape over time, not like that would be a problem with beer around here (more then a year of storage).

I've thought about getting some 1/2L & L's for party bottles. Especially if I buy that BeerGun bottle filler!!

I've read, PET bottles can holg up to 100 lbs of pressure, though it's not recommended. I ordered 2 cases of the 500ml bottles yesterday for a braggot thats ready to be bottled. I'll post how they work out.

I reuse old pop bottles for my beer all the time, until I can collect enough decent sized glass ones.

No beer lasts long enough around here for me to tell you about pressure loss etc....Tho I've stored them for up to 3 months with no problems.

Couple weeks ago I read a piece on conditioning new PET bottle on a homebrew site. I don't remember what it said to soak the bottles over night in, and I can't find the site again.

    Any help would be great.
