After reading that Medsen had successfully brewed a batch of Earl Grey Kombucha (message #5), I'm wanting to know more, then brew more, much more...
So after I get my current 5 gallon batcha bucha done I'll set up a smaller 1 gallon batch of Earl Grey, I'll have plenty of mother to play with, not a problem.
The test batch will be brewed with Medsen's hazy recollections, combined with a twist of mine...
Ingredients:
5 bags Earl Grey tea
5 tsp Pu Erh tea leaves
1 cup evaporated cane juice
Filtered & treated tap water to one gallon
Method:
Boil water
Pour over tea leaves & bags
Leave until cool
Strain
Mix sugar in
Pull out 3 cups for me
Add back 2 cups starter
Slide mother in
Keep warm
Sample starting at ~10 days
During all of this I'll be watching, smelling & tasting to make sure the bucha mama stays healthy, nice thing about bucha mama's is that you always seem to have a spare, or six, just in case...
Not everything posted has to be about mead, that's why I'm in this forum! Time for some Acetobacter to steal the ethanol from the yeastie beasties, go bacteria!!! Uhh, um, [clears throat], yeah, anyway, let's see what happens ;D ...
