Here is an Irish Red Ale recipe of my own devising. It’s the first time I’m trying this exact recipe so I can’t say for sure how its going to turn out. I just bottled it three weeks ago and plan on trying it for the first time in about 2-3 weeks. What do you think?

1 can John Bull Light
3 lbs light DME
½ lb muttons crystal
½ lb light munich
2 oz roasted barley
1 oz cascade hop plugs (60 min)
½ oz fuggles whole leaf hops (2 min)
1 tsp irish moss
¼ tsp burton water salts
White labs irish ale yeast

Primary 4 weeks
Secondary 2 weeks
Bottle with 5 oz corn sugar
Age 5-6 weeks
 
mmm...Red Ale! Looks flavorful to me - good amounts of grain and hops. Let us know how it turned out!
 
Indeed I did try one a few weeks after my first post, it came out fairly nice. The hops were a bit more assertive than I had expected, but not too much so. I felt that it needed some more time to balance out, and then subsequently wasn’t feeling well for a while so I haven’t given it a second taste. I think a lot of people greatly underestimate what a few months of aging can do for a good homebrewed beer. However, I think its due time I break into one soon and I’ll definitely let you know how it coming along.
 
I have a few questions about your beer:

How dark was the half-pound of Munton's Crystal Malt? Was it light (10L to 40L), medium (50L to 60L), or dark (75L to 125L)?

Do you remember the alpha acid percentage on the Cascade and Fuggle hops?

And did the roasted barley impart any harsh or burnt toast flavor to the beer?

The Muntons was medium, the alpha acid i do not know, and the roasted barley was too little to impart any harsh flavors. Two ounces of roasted in a 5 gallon recipe does little more than add a deep mahogany color.
