Hi,

I've been wanting to make a braggot for a while now, since that was the first mead-like thing that I tasted, and the thing that got me into the mead world.

There are some great tips and recipes on here, but a lot of the braggots seem to come out at the 8-10% mark. I would like to make something a little weaker, say 5-7%.

Just lower the honey content? Use a different yeast? Any recommendations really appreciated. I'll even send a bottle over if someone gives me a great recipe.
 
Disclaimer: I have only made 2 braggots, but planning on making a third in the near future.

You might consider taking a recipe and reduce the honey and malt proportionally. If you just reduce the honey, then at some point you'll really have a honey beer rather than a braggot. Splitting hairs, I know.

One thing to remember when reducing the fermentables, though, your going to lose some residual sweetness. Your braggot will be drier and have less body. You'll have to adjust your hops to balance.

A beer strength braggot should be able to use any yeast, being mindful of the contributions each yeast will give the brew.
 
In the patron's brewlogs you'll find "beyond the pale ale" which is a beer-strength American pale ale style braggot that has great flavor and good balance. The approach described there can be used with a variety of styles.
