So, before my mead finished I started a wine kit, a Winexpert Limited Edition 2012 Argentinian Malbec Bonarda.

The kit was your typical kit, complete with toasted French oak chips.

The wine was bottled yesterday, and finished off at 13.1% ABV

It tastes great already, but some age will definitely help the flavour palette.

Here is a quick blurb from Youtube on the kit.

Now that all the carbouys are cleaned and sanitized, the primary is empty and it is time to start another mead!

Update on the Malbec/Bonarda

This wine turned out great, the taste is fresh and clean. The wine is not quite as purple as other Malbecs, but I believe that is in part due to the Bonarda grape used in combination with the Malbec.

The wine has a young taste to it, so it has been bottled and stored away for now. We have however brought a few bottles out to make sangria this Summer, it seems to be a perfect match for the sweet fruitiness of this Spanish beverage.
