Anyone have any good recipes for a Rye Beer? I've made a couple of batches of Kvass and tried to make a more malty, toasted version that would be like a "rye toast beer" but it didnt turn out all that great IMO.

I've never tasted a commercial rye beer before so I'm not sure really what its supposed to taste like. Would a Hefeweizen recipe work with rye substituted for the wheat?

I think rye can be used for up to 15-25% of the recipe depending on who you ask, whereas wheat can be used for as much as 60%-70%.

Funny this question should come up because I am brewing a rye saison this upcoming weekend. Here is the link to the recipe: http://www.maltosefalcons.com/recipes/20020701.php

I am modifying it to be a partial mash instead of all grain.

This is a Denny Conn recipe that, although I have yet to make it, it is in my "On Deck' folder in BeerSmith. There is a LOT of discussion about this recipe over at the Northern Brewer's Forums - http://tinyurl.com/yov72b
