Hi all,
I am about to bottle a batch of beer and I want to use the 12 oz. beer bottles. The question I have is : how do you sterilize the caps?
I have a bag of oxygen absorbing caps and I'm thinking that immersing them in iodophore solution would mess up the oxygen absorbing properties. Am I wrong?

Thanks,
Ted

I usually use a bowl of warm water with a few teaspoons of bleach in it. I think the oxygen absorbing caps are fine as long as you dont boil them.

I just mix up a sanitizing solution of Star-San and let them sit in it until it's bottling time.

Cheers,

Oskaar

Cool,
That's what I was thinking, but then again, a stupid question is better than a stupid mistake.

Ted

I use bleach for everything, since I cant countenence paying the same amount for a 4 litre bottle of bleach that I do for 500grams of StarSan or similar.

I boil water and chuck em in with bleach, rinse with more water and let em sit in that while I'm filling/capping

Thank you all,
Since I had Iodofore handy, I soaked the suckers in there for about 10 min. and let them airdry (face down).

We'll see in 6 weeks,
Ted
