For the real brewers out there :notworthy: , a question ("Since before your sun burned hot in space, and before your race was born..." sorry :laughing4: ):

Orange carboy caps--does it matter into which spout I put the tubing for blow-off effluvience (is that a word) or effluvium as the case may be?

I'm guessing I keep one capped whilst the other is routing effluvial fusel oils, then use the other one for the airlock?

Laughter directed at the new brewster may commence. :confused2:

Cargirl,

I've never used one of those caps as a blow-off tube .... why not just get youself a 3 foot piece of 1" tubing from your LHBS and use that - in conjunction with a pan of water with some mild sanitizing solution - instead?

I don't know what kind of beer you're making, but I've made some - wheat beers and my AG version of JoeM's Barleywine Braggot in particular - that would have probably plugged the hole(s) in the caps and blown them off just like what happened to my airlocks !

I have used the caps - but only when racking .... the racking cane goes in the middle hole and a tube from my CO2 tank goes in the other hole - light pressure = a perfect racking each and every time !

Don't know if that helped or not, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it !!!

Hey Cargirl !

Hope you were not too disappointed with my GM Website .... it is LONG overdue for some updates - LOL !

I'm in the process of completing a kegerator that, when finished, will have 4 taps - including a dedicated stout faucet that will be dispensed with beer gas - 75% Nitrogen / 25% CO2 - and room for a total of 6 Cornelius kegs - gotta have room for a couple lagers ya' know !

I'll post pics of that when it's done as well as updating the others .....
