this was a experimental gallon of mead

used some left over butterscotch mead must added 1 1/2lbs honey and water

ended up with some black growth floating ontop of the must

should i chalk it up as a failure and dump it??
 
THats pretty nasty looking, what does it taste like? Just kidding, dump and sanitize and sanitize again. Looks like way to much headspace going on there. You may benefit from a little KM and less air on your next batch. What kinds of honey are you guys running into right now? WVMJ
