As a non-patron I found it impossible to upload a file. Even a single pixel would exceed the limit. Maybe this was back when the site was under construction and it was a bug and perhaps it's possible to upload a photo now

No, it isn't Patron only, photos have alway been available to all GM members. I agree it may be Tapatalk settings.
 
It's certainly not a patrons only thing, I have never gotten a photo to upload successfully so I always slap them up on facebook and link to the image there...
 
Weird. Can't figure it out but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I mean, I'm not happy for anyone else's misfortune, but at least I'm not an idiot! Lol. I emailed the Tapatalk developer so hopefully I'll have an answer soon.

Make sure you have the option w here tapatalk hosts the photo. I was having all sorts of issues and that solved it. It has nothing to do with gotmead

I always just host on imgur and then use
tags.

You can also append s, m, or l to the end of the imgur file name to change the size:

Small - http://i.imgur.com/pocXbdfs.png

Medium - http://i.imgur.com/pocXbdfm.png
pocXbdfm.png


Large - http://i.imgur.com/pocXbdfl.png
pocXbdfl.png


There's also "h" (huge), but both "huge" and "original" (no letter suffix) are always too big to post in forums.
