jello shot idea, what is your thought on it?

take 3 ounce cup, fill bottom 1/4 inch up with knox gelatin made with godiva chocolate liquor. let set a bit. Then place a one ounce cup ( can get them in Party City) in the middle, and fill up the rest of the 3 ounce cup to the top of the one ounce cup, so the one ounce cup is a void. let set. Then remove the one ounce cup and fill with strawberry jello made w vodka. let set. Top off with chocolate mix or whipped cream

what do you think?

Would the gelatin set correctly if you made it with the godiva stuff? There's a lot of fat in that liqueur (cream).

We just generally use the Jello flavors we want, mix with vodka and pour them into plastic souffle cup that have the snap on lids and refridgerate till solid. We also take injected watermelons and maraschino cherries soaked in 151 (always very popular with the ladies!) to the river with us for those out of control rafting parties.

Here's basically what we do (we found this on the web):

16 ounces (2 cups) boiling water
6 oz. package of Jello (whatever flavor floats your boat)
6 ounces cold water (6 ounces equals 3/4 cup)
10 ounces Vodka (see Tips for options)
[edit] StepsBring water to a rolling boil then remove from heat.
Stir together boiling water and powdered gelatin in a medium mixing bowl. Stir constantly until gelatin is completely dissolved.
Stir in cold water and Vodka.

A tray of gelatin shots prior to refrigeration.Pour mixture into 1oz-2oz plastic souffle cups.

Place shots on a tray in refrigerator (not the freezer). Chill until firm. Approx. 2-4 hours. Refrigerate until served.
Makes 40 1oz. shots or 20 2oz. shots

Orange 'shot' slices. Another way to enjoy gelatin shotsDress up a party with orange 'shot' slices. Cut oranges in half. Use a spoon to cut around the edges between the rind and inner skin. Remove the fruit, leaving just the rind of half an orange. Fill the halves with gelatin shot mixture. Refrigerate until firm. Cut orange halves into thirds. Obviously you can use orange, lemon or lime Jello.

Tips on making it all work and mixtures, etc. that I found all over the web.

Chill alcohol at least one hour prior to adding to mixture. (not in freezer)

Depending on the proof of alcohol you use, adjust the proportions of alcohol to cold water to ensure that the shot still sets. Use the following ratios:
13 ounces of 30-50 (~20%) proof alcohol to 3 ounces cold water
10 ounces 80-100 (~45%) proof alcohol to 6 ounces cold water (U.S. standard)
6 ounces 150-200 proof alcohol to 10 ounces cold water

If you would like more "potent" shots, you can "push" the recipe a bit. This variation makes 6 large cups with 2 ounces of alcohol each, or 12 small cups with 1oz of alcohol each, yet still sets hard and tastes great.

Although shot glasses look prettier and allow you to see the vibrant colors of the Jello, paper cups allow for easier Jello shot consumption as they can be turned inside out. Ice cube trays also work well.

EZ-Squeeze Jello Shot cups have been introduced at the 2008 Las Vegas Bar/Nightclub Convention. EZ-Squeeze disposable cups are designed from a clear plastic accordian-like cup that compresses flat when you squeeze it, thus forcing all of the contents (jello) out into your mouth seamlessly. There is no need to loosen or dig the jello out and the cups do not leak unlike the paper alternative.

When serving large parties use more water and less alcohol in your shots to help cut costs and better control intoxication.

To make the jello easier to consume, buy plastic cups that also have lids. Pour the mix into the cup, add the lid, then turn it upside down prior to refrigeration.

Independent studies have proven that the EZ-Squeeze Jello Shot Cups actually decrease the "set-time" involved with Jello, so you don't have to wait so long to enjoy your Jello Shots. This is due to the fact that the EZ-Squeeze Jello Shot Cups have a distinct groove in the base of the cup, that allows the cold air to pass beneath the cup and chill the Jello faster than conventional cups. (This is something similiar to how a bridge will freeze faster than land.)
Be creative in mixing Jello flavors with alcohol. If you have a favorite alcoholic drink, try converting it into Jello shot form using unflavored Jello, juice, soda and alcohol.

Orange and cherry are Jello flavors that work well with Brandy. You can match fruit flavored liquor with fruit flavored Jello.

Here are some popular liquor and Jello flavor combinations:
Lime Jello with tequila and Triple Sec (try adding a pinch of salt to the liquid mixture)
Lime Jello with Coconut Rum
Orange jello with orange cognac and brandy (such as Grand Marnier) or peach Schnapps
Unflavored gelatin with Coca Cola and rum
Cranberry Jello with vodka
Cherry Jello with cherry brandy
Raspberry jello with raspberry Schnapps
Tropical fruit Jello (or unflavored gelatin mixed with fruit punch) with dark rum or mango liqueur
Unflavored Jello with lemonade and whiskey
Strawberry Jello with light rum and strawberry liqueur (such as Pucker)
Apricot Jello with amaretto
Lime Jello with Sake
Lime Jello with Sprite, Pimm's, and cucumber garnish
Strawberry Jello with champagne (retains some bubbles!)
Orange Jello with amaretto
Pineapple Jello with coconut rum
Blue Jello with Everclear
Black Cherry with Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum
Orange Jello with Absolut Mandrin

Cheers,

Oskaar

I've made jello shooters with rum and coke before. Just make sure that the coke is plenty flat first! We used 151 for maximum effect and the unflavored Knox gelatin. Not quite as tasty as a glass full but they work.

Oskaar, how much is rent and when is that spare room available?

I am so moving in...
