My sister-in-spirit Elizabeth had this yummy concoction in her home when I visited them in October to attend the Texas Renaissance Festival this year. *Extremely* easy to drink, and even easier to get tipsy on, this tasty, refreshing and deceptively smooth drink will give you much pain if you overdue, but is *perfect* for sipping warm on a cold night, or settin' on the porch sippin' it cold on a warm Southern evening.

Y'all enjoy!

Apple Pie

1 gal apple cider
750ml Everclear or Vodka (one bottle - a fifth)
3 whole cinnamon
2 whole allspice
2 tsp vanilla extract

In a large pot, put apple cider (½ only), cinnamon, and allspice. I crushed mine. Boil for 10 minutes. Turn off heat and add rest of cider, Everclear/Vodka and vanilla extract. Stir to mix. Let cool and pour into containers to store in refrigerator. Remember to remove cinnamon and allspice sticks before pouring into containers.

Vicky - feeling no pain, and fixin' to hit the hay

I have prepared myself a bit of the spiced spiked apple cider. Took your suggestion and crushed the allspice and use 100p vodka... Very good- definatly easy to drink, better go easy :P and only drink a gallon ;D

LOL...how big was your headache the next morning?

I have to buy some more cider today and make another batch. FYI, it is *yummy* right after it is mixed, while its still warm.

No head ache yet I only drank a tall glass plan on taking out the rest this weekend..

Idahoskunk and myself... Got to drink somthing while the mead is aging!! 8)

YUMMMMM!!!!

Thanks Vicky,
I took 1 gal of the apple pie and 1 gal of loki to a party last week-end. All I can say is that I was smart enough to leave some home ( 1 bottle each, 750 ml.) otherwise I wouldn't know what they tasted like! These folks jumped on my booze like a pack of dogs on a three legged cat!!!
Great recipes, now onward to the Kahlua on steroids recipe.

Stay happy,
Ted

Made a second batch today....Note to self: do not sample before going to work, the stuff with Everclear is potent!

Ted

That was actually the first thing I ever made, and the recipe I have also calls for brown sugar. I used about 2 cups of vodka, the really cheap stuff.

:drunken_smilie: I made this last night its great. Im going to make some more for a holiday party this weekend. Everyone should really enjoy this.

If I use 151p Everclear (that's what we have) to make this recipe, can it be stored in sealed bottles or jars outside of the fridge. Or will it spoil?

I made a batch of this for Thanksgiving when my wife's family came over - 42 people in all !!!! A group of guys (+ 1 girl - my daughter-in-law) including myself, decided to play a friendly game of 'touch' football, (which, admittedly, turned into a friendly game of tackle football) and it was these 10 people, that consumed the entire almost 1.5 gallons of Apple Pie "Tonic". Incredibly, the only person who did NOT participate in the Tonic Tasting ended up breaking his shoulder in two places right before it was time to eat.

It is quite apparent then, that this "Tonic" not only tastes great, is incredibly smooth, and gives you a really good buzz in a very short amount of time, but posesses mystical guardian properties as well !!!!! :laughing7:

Good job Vicky - Highly recommended. :drunken_smilie:

Will this keep if stored outside of the fridge? I'd like to make a few gallons to have on the side while I wait for my cysers to clear. I already made one batch for some friends and drank it down like a thirsty camel. It is mighty tasty! Thanks Vicky :icon_thumright:

By my rough calculations, this should be about 12% ABV using 151 proof everclear:

1 gallon cider = approx 3850 ml, 0% ABV
+ 750 ml everclear, 75% ABV
= 4600 ml, 12.3% ABV

Some volume would be lost to evaporation during the boil, but let's assume it's not much. So 12 is more than 10 and at 10% ABV most of your worries about nasty microbes are gone. Most, but not all, so I'd say if you want to keep this out of the frige, be sure to sanitize your bottles, crown cap them, and try to keep everything as clean as possible. Keep an eye on the bottles too, and if you open one with carbonation be sure to put them all into the frige IMMEDIATELY before they blow up on you. In fact, I'd suggest storing these in a plastic bin with a lid, just in case (to keep the shrapnel and the liquid contained should one decide to ferment).

On second thought, don't bottle. Put this into a container and airlock (if it's still hot, watch in case the liquid gets sucked back in, maybe use vodka hehe). If it does decide to ferment, you'll notice, and at least it won't blow up. Siphon or thief out directly into glasses as needed.
