Air conditioner finally working! The outside unit had a freon leak. I can now hang a side of beef in here.

Now just need to get the beer guy and the electrician in here!

Got a question for ya?? When you call the beer guy, does his phone play "taps"?? ;D [quickly ducks]

I hope he really hops to.lol
Edit: hey maneye can I make a tunage request for the grand opening of the tardis with that kicking sound system. It would be king Henry by steeleye span from the album below the salt. Seems to fit mead well. (Also a geat drinking song) we play it at my buddies house when we have shed nights. We just sit I'm the shed turned workshop listening to Irish and Celtic music while drinking mead braggots and beer.

HAHA! Well, I'm playing taps for my hopes that he will ever come. I've decided to give another few folks a call to get estimates for the installation. In the meantime, the electrician is coming tomorrow to give me the estimate for the extra fusebox and the outlets and lighting and my Expidit shelf was assembled and mounted on the wall ready to fill with records. The fermenters are at least in the space now and I'm setting up the shelving for them as well as the bulk aging rack which will soon be housing at least 4 glass carboys as well as the wine rack for storing the bottles. No conical for now, just 5 gallon (6 gallon capacity) buckets with spigots for easy racking into secondary. A total of 20 gallons at a time and 20 to 30 (if I can find room for 2 more glass carboys) gallons bulk aging as well as 50 to 100 bottles. 50 bottles if I end up being able to install the glycol system, 100 if I don't and I'm able to use the extra space for racks... we shall see.

I'm lucky to get to Chicago.....Miami Beach doesn't have any direst flights from Schipol (Amsterdam).

Sent from the Nexus of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which has been infected with Vogon poetry, some of which leaked out here.

Sure it does. They arrive daily at 4:20 PM. Lol.

A thick rubber gasket along the top and bottom and foam on the sides (all easily removable) then sheets of wooden floor soundproofing cover the whole door and any cracks I might have missed. I also insulated the door itself with styrofoam although that won't keep out anything. In addition, the outside of the door was sprayed with "insect barrier" spray. Although with the summer rains that's really not very effective.

Very good, I could see you popping open a bottle of mead and then the bees finding you and a cool youtube of Manne bouncing off of the walls trying to get out the garage door:) If we get so much as a drop of honey on the outside of the doorknob they will find it. WVMJ

We took it from them, and they want it back. :angryfire:

I do have to say though that even with our back door & all the windows open, we have only had 2 bees inside the house since late March till now. And our yard is FILLED with at least 4-5 types of bees I can recognize, and probably at least a dozen or more wild ones I cannot recognize. But I do have to say that our set of EVERYTHING in our yard is spectacular. Then again we don't spray any pesticides (DE, DR. Bronners & Borax aside), and have lots of bee and other pollinator friendly plants blooming from early Spring to late Autumn/early Winter. We drop the seed in a hole and water it, the plants and insects provide us with bounty, beautiful relationship. (BTW: He's one of the original Hippies from the 60's, and I'm a Latter Day Hippie ;D)

Well I wish I could have that kind of relationship with insects here. Unfortunately, Miami Beach is populated with a high percentage of "douchebag" which is the most annoying insect of all. They insist on having bermudagrass lawns and all sorts of non-native plants so of course, there are more chemicals floating around here than bugs. The net effect is (and I think this is nature sticking her middle finger out at us) is that all the beneficial insects are dead.

I have bought and released tens of thousands of ladybugs, praying mantis and others as well as several doses of beneficial nematodes only to see them all disappear in days. The nematodes did well in the backyard until a gardener thinking he was being helpful doses the place with poison.

Without pesticides tomatoes and anything fruit bearing is literally chewed up in days. And forget about soap. The super bugs here laugh at it.

The only fruit that works here so far (in my backyard) are banana and accidental papaya. Lol. They just grew there. And rosemary. Everything else I have to grow behind a screen AND keep a close eye on.

Any day now! Waiting to finish brew area to take some pics. Beer guy finally got back to me and came in to give me the estimate and it's a little more than I was hoping but I'm going for it.

Ok. Brew area is still only 20% but here's a couple of pics so far.

Some of the storage and freezers/beer coolers/ferment chambers. This will soon be changed to have the white shelves outside as the coolers are coming together.

This is the primary ferment area for the winter months when I won't need to keep the buckets in the freezers and where the secondary and aging will eventually end up. The more observant Christopher Foyle types among you will notice the new sub-panel ::giggedy:: and finally that big dark mass with the tap resting on it is the glycol system which is being installed in the coming days. ::double giggedy::

Almost forgot! Some decorations.

And LP storage was added. Gotta make sure the tunes are plentiful!

Amazing! I'm planning on doing something like this, (brew room or corner, whichever my girlfriend allows at the time) when I get a larger place!

Of course it'll be on a much smaller scale. But seriously jealous. Great job man.
