Instead of formulating a recipe and then going out and getting what is required, I bought what I can afford and now I hit the books to figure out what I can do with what I have...

So... Toes are wet. No going back. I bought 500 grams of Crystal Malt III and 500 grams of amber dry malt extract. It's on.

You name a fruit, I've probably got at least a pound of it in the freezer, more in some cases... and I've got random amounts of honey... and some Saaz hops that still tasted good when I made my iced tea beer thing. I'm guessing this won't be that big of a batch since I've really only got just over a pound of malt extract and if I still want to taste it I can't stretech it THAT far with honey...

I know I've got a couple of pounds of raspberries in the freezer, so I'm really, really tempted to start with those... I won't be doing anything pumkin-y until they're in season...

Oh well. Off to consult the writings of Mr. Papazian to see if he's got some good ideas. I'm sure he does. And I'm going to start with the stuff I already flagged :)

Thrice the malted must hath gurgle'd,
Thrice and once the hopped pellets wine'd,
Thrice the mazer cries: - 'tis time! 'tis time!
Round about the fermentor go;

In the frozen raspberries go.-
Berries, that out of cold freezer,
Days and nights has thirty-one;
Swelter'd malt sleeping got,
Boil thou first i' the charmed pot!

(Oh my gosh, you're boiling it?! That is so old school. :P)

Double, double toil and trouble;
Capiscumel burn, and fermentor bubble.

Fillet of a ginger root,
In the fermentor bubble and poot;
Sprig of thyme, and bean of vanilla,
Zest of orange, and a handful of raisins,
Fermaid-K, and a double shot of DAP,
Some Allspice berries, and three whole cloves,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth ferment and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Capiscumel burn, and fermentor bubble.

etc etc etc... mwahaha
