(Not sure if this should go here as it's not really a review per se?)
About a month ago, my husband bought a bottle of Enchanted Manor Bochet for me from a local liquor store. They supply Texas Renaissance Festival with mead, apparently. I had never had a bochet, so I was pretty excited.
The bottle looked like it should have been a flip top (there were holes in the neck) but it wasn't - just had a normal beer cap style top, no cork or anything. I thought that was odd, but opened it anyways. The top practically fell off the bottle - it didn't seem like it was pressurized at all. The taste of the bochet was bad - like gasoline. Is this the normal flavor for bochet? My brain tells me it should taste mildly like burnt or carmalized sugar, but having never had one, I'm not sure. We ended up dumping it out and not drinking it, but I wonder if maybe this bottle escaped QC and got sent out without the proper top? Or maybe someone opened it, drank it, and filled it with their own swill? Does that happen? WTF did I drink?
LOL
I emailed enchanted manor and tried to contact them on facebook, but have heard nothing from them in a month...
If this is NOT how bochet is supposed to taste, does any one have a recommendation for a bochet easily obtained in Texas/Houston area?
Thanks
