Frontier Mead Review
Made by Meridian Hive Meadery of Austin, TX.
From the bottle: "...a refreshing light body, a clean honey flavor, and a tropical fruit bouquet, with just enough sweetness to balance Meridian hops."
Style - 7% ABV session mead, carbonated hop metheglin. Chilled.
Found - Total Wine in Plano, TX.
Tasting Environment - Home in McKinney, TX in a glencairn glass.
Appearance - Golden with a slightly cloudy appearance. Petulant.
Aroma - Tropical flower aroma. Extremely perfumed. A bit of grape aroma as well.
Flavor - First, you get flowers from the hops, then an off dry honey/ grape-like sweetness. A slight carbonic bite with an off dry finish.
Mouthfeel - Light body (as advertised), but the carbonation helps hide it. It finishes off dry just as indicated on the bottle.
Overall - I love this mead. I would buy it for the perfumed aroma alone. Add to that a wonderful honey taste with a perfect balance of all elements and you've got a real winner. Buy this mead!
