i just checked my brown ale and its got a layer of white stuff on the top. looks like mold or something similar, its like a film with bubbles in it, like big bubbles as if the ale was fermenting and teh c02 coming up from under the film caused them.....

this sucks.... my first beer... hope the other makes it....

is there any way to save it?

What yeast did you use? Recipe? When did you brew it? What stage is it at now? How does it taste?

6.6 lbs. Gold Liquid Malt Extract
½ lb. British Pale Grain M&F two row (cracked)
½ lb. British Crystal Grain M&F (cracked)
¼ lb. Cara Pils Grain (cracked)
¼ lb. Chocolate Grain (cracked)
1½ oz. Willamette or Fuggles
1 oz. Willamette or Fuggles
1 tsp. Irish Moss
2 tsp. Gypsum
1 pkg. Wyeast Liquid Yeast - British Ale

it was at about a week and a half, fermentation has pretty much died down, i was stupid and didnt chech the gravity when i racked it last night... i skimmed off the mold looking film from the top and then i racked it into a carboy...theres no action at all as far as i can tell now so id assume that if it didnt start movin around a little bit after the rtacking its done fermenting???
