Got a bottle of this for $30 from 8 Degrees Plato in Ferndale, MI. Queen Bee Traditional Mead from Arktos Meadery in Grand Rapids. This is my first review and first post.

Appearance - deep yellow, clear, still, very few bubbles

Aroma - honey, oak, vanilla, alcohol, carmel

Flavor - sweet/semi-sweet, honey, vanilla, oak

Mouthfeel - at 15.5% it has a very full mouthfeel, doesn't taste particularly young or very old to me, but I'm new to mead making.

Overall impression - Complex traditional that I enjoyed sipping over a couple weeks and sharing with friends. It gets a lot of complexity from the barrel, which I'm guessing is medium-toast. I really enjoyed the full mouthfeel. A little too sweet for my taste but uninitiated mead drinkers enjoyed it. Would I buy it again? Maybe, very pricey. It would make a great gift.

I'm still waiting for them to open a tasting room, although 8 degress plato is supposed to do a free tasting May 1st? I can't make sadly, or I'd hit them and Scrhramm's...

Sounds like an interesting mead...
