No shame in that, my wife did the same thing for twilight and silver lining playbook!

I read the book 'stardust' because i loved the movie and i still really enjoy both even if they're both really different!

I adored the book Stardust, but, while the movie was, I guess, decent in and of itself, I did not like it. Gaiman butchered his own child for the screen, taking out all of the things that make him such an amazing author.

Just finished The Elvenbane by Norton & Lackey, now halfway through The Serpent Bride by Sara Douglass.

...so apparently my ebookreader didn't like Emma any more than I did... it cacked on me last week, stuck on its loading screen despite repeated tries to reset it... guess I don't have to finish the stupid book ;D Am now re-reading Mercedes Lackey's "By the Sword" just because I like it.

Ah, By The Sword. Loved it, loved all of her stuff. The Last Herald Mage series really blew me away.

Can't do e-readers. Part of what I love about reading is the tactile sensations: I'm always flipping and rubbing the edges of the pages, rubbing the texture of the paper. Love the smell of old books, even if they are mass paperbacks.

Also, my book collection is probably over 800 books - I've got a lot on my book catalog app and more to add. plus, I buy all of my books at resale shops and thrifties, so I pay $1 to $.25 for them, so I can't beat the price.

And I have no need to carry 10,000 books. I can only read about 4 or 5 at the same time, at most, before I get lost.

Funny how a lot of us read the same stuff. Like minds . . . . . and all that.

Well i saw the movie before reading the book so that might be why i still liked the movie hahaha. I found that after reading the book that the movie still kept the 'essence' of the story while changing ALOT of the content which i didn't mind but i say that it's more a movie 'based' on a book than to say that it's a movie of the book like other great adaptations that we've had in the past.

My wife saw 'The silver lining book' and then read the book and tought that she liked the movie better because she said that the in the book it's mostly just a guy talking to himself lol. To each their own i say!

Try Lugging around Game of thrones book five hard cover on a sardine can level of crowded subway car. E-Readers just might be the solution. I like physical books more but the E-reader is definitely nice at times. Unfortunately my dad bought me book five for my birthday, hard cover, right before I was going to buy it on the Nook.

I really do prefer reading in dead-tree format, but for stuff I'm only going to read once and don't need to own, the e-books sure are handy. Till the machine cacks, anyway :p I have a friend (the one who sold me my Kobo right after she bought it because she discovered the Nook while on a business trip to the 'states because you can't get Nooks up here, or couldn't at the time) whose book collection numbered in the thousands... long story short, she's really glad to have had most of her books in e-format since her house burned down last year.

Wait.
A Canuck can't get a Nook?

Planets in Transit
Robert Hand

Just using it as a resource at the moment (Pluto square the Moon!) and am ever so glad I have it!

At the time she bought hers (2010?), they weren't available outside the US, but I haven't investigated the matter lately.... 35 seconds with Google makes it seem like that may still true, although there was a post that said they wouldn't even work outside the US and I'm pretty sure I know of two imported Nooks that work in this country, so here's your grain of salt to take with my google-fu... So yeah, no Nookies for Canucks, I guess :)

I got a kindle fire for Christmas and discovered to my horror that the books cost the same for it as beloved Holy paper! I cannot bring myself to pay for what I will not own. And I LIKE books! I just waste endless hours on the damn thing watching old tv shows and some movies.

I prefer the paper books, but also like reading Kindle stuff (and random papers that you can email to your Kindle) on my iPhone so I can always have something to read.

And some of my more important books I own on both Paper and Kindle.

And my current book now is Mr Schramm's The Complete Mead Maker.

The only book I have on my iPhone kindle is
The Wobbit A Parody

Currently I'm reading
When Bad Things Happen To Good People
Harold Kushner

Certainly there is heartache and suffering in the world. Don't I know it. But I kinda just don't "get" this book, having gotten the "Nobody Ever Said Life Is Gonna Be Fair" lecture when i was very young.

The other thing I do with my Kindle is hit up the top 100 free Amazon kindle books every couple of months and grab a bunch of freebies. Some times there isn't much there, some times you can find a gem or two.
